Just stumbled across this review by Paul DiFilippo of Gene Wolfe’s newest release, An Evil Guest. I’ve really been looking forward to this, as the strangeness of the setting — a future world that evokes the pulp era of Doc Savage and The Shadow alongside Lovecraftian elements, shapechangers,  and scifi tropes — sounds like an absolute romp. I still haven’t read Pirate Freedom yet (or Soldier of Sidon for that matter), but if there is one sure thing in my book buying habits it’s getting each new Wolfe in hardback when it comes out. So what if it takes me a year to get to? It’s always worth the wait.

I haven’t reviewed Wolfe yet on this site but I will, he’s one of my favorites.
